Ron Collins Launches Senate Campaign, Campaign Web site

WELLS- Ron Collins has launched his campaign to represent District 2 in the Maine Senate. His candidacy offers a strong and experienced voice to fight for York County in Augusta. Senate District 2 includes the towns of Acton, Berwick, Cornish, Lebanon, Limerick, Newfield, North Berwick, Parsonsfield, Shapleigh and Wells.

As State Senator, Collins will focus on controlling state spending, cutting taxes, and creating new jobs and a robust Maine economy.  Additionally, he will fight for a more transparent and accountable government, and the preservation of Maine’s natural resources and open spaces.

Collins’ experience as a business owner and former State Representative from Wells gives him the unique ability to address problems within state government, and bring York County concerns to the forefront of any debate in Augusta. His work on the Government Oversight Committee reflects his concern that state government be responsible, open and accountable to the citizens and taxpayers of Maine.

“We must get our financial house in order to create economic prosperity and job growth in Maine.  We need to prioritize state spending and cut taxes for all Mainers to encourage investment and new jobs,” Collins said.

The Ron Collins campaign has also launched a new Web site,   Visitors to the site can find Collins’ campaign platform, photographs, latest campaign news, blog posts, and sign up for e-mail updates and volunteer opportunities.  The site also links to the Collins for Senate Twitter and Facebook accounts.

“Too many politicians try to avoid their constituents while in Augusta,” Collins said.  “That’s unacceptable.  I’m asking residents of District 2 to hire me for a very important job, and I will not take that for granted.  I’m knocking on doors and making phone calls and e-mails to talk about the issues and listen to concerns.  My marching orders come from the people, not the Augusta establishment.”

Collins lives in Wells with Linda, his wife of 42 years. He is a former owner of a food brokerage business that served Northern New England. In addition to his previous service in Augusta, Collins served on the Wells Planning Board and Comprehensive Planning Committee, and continues to serve on several boards and committees in his community.
